1. About ABN BAS

ABN BAS will start providing services from 1 March 2010, which is the commencement date of the new BAS Agent laws.

ABN BAS is taken to be a BAS Agent from 1 March 2010 by virtue of the Tax Agent Services (Consequential and Transitional Provisions) Act 2009 . As soon as the National Tax Practitioners Board is accepting applications, it will seek full-fledged registration under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 .

No. If ABN BAS were a BAS Agent Association (which requires a not-for-profit structure), then it would not be able to offer the range of commercial services that it does, including serving as a BAS Agent for ABN members and their clients. ... read more »
